This programme reflects the Snowsport England framework for growing the sport at every level.

NSSA Programme Director, Phil Brown said: “We have strong ambitions to significantly grow the sport and this programme is all about putting more children on skis or a board. First and foremost, we want to make snowsports a fun and enjoyable experience for children and give them a passion for the sport to last a lifetime”

“Drawing kids to the sport at an early age will develop more participants, create more fans and show the power of snowsports in developing physical and social skills.”

What is the Alpine All Stars?

The Alpine All Stars is an initiative by the NSSA to get more children involved in snowsports to a basic competitive level.
Rather than a ‘have a go’ initiative, it’s designed to take children from non-skiers and to give them the tools to enjoy the sport and stay involved, creating greater retention of those taking part.
A new generation of families will be introduced to snowsports through Alpine All Stars, a major new grassroots initiative which starts in November 2022. Open to all school-age children.

Who is it aimed at?

Beginners from schools, interested in skiing or schools looking to build their ski programme by getting more beginners involved and trained to a higher level.

In keeping with the current Snowsport England drive for inclusion and diversity, We are passionate about increasing participation and accessibility to snowsports, whatever your background or ability.

This will be taken into account when assessing applications.

How much does it cost?

Nothing – That’s right, zero. The slope costs are covered by the centre and coaching costs by our alpine training partner, Impulse Racing and other sponsors.

Where will it happen?

We have a number of slopes on board and are building this number throughout the spring and summer. Once we have schools selected, we will organise the sessions to begin after summer break 2022.

How do I get involved?

If you’d like to put your school forward, please speak to them first and contact us on
office@schoolssnowsports.co.uk
copying in a school contact to register your interest by the end of September 2022. The committee of the NSSA will then select schools (some of this will be dependent on availability of the centres involved).

Further Information

Alpine All Stars will be delivered at local ski centres across the UK throughout the school year, giving some children their first experience of the sport and others an insight into where they can go within the sport.

From now, schools and parents can register their kids to take part by filling in our application form below or contacting
office@schoolssnowsports.co.uk

After registering and if selected, schools will receive information on their nearest centre and the options available to them.

They will then start a programme at their local participating centre, with the emphasis placed firmly on learning how to ski/board and developing the fundamental skills in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. Children will also learn the social development skills that the sport brings.

With the continued sessions, rather than a single taster session, we hope to develop snowsports as a habit, rather than a one off.
